Wedding Trends for 2014 – Colour Blocking

I am going to let you in on a little secret: 2014 is going to be a good year.  I’m not just saying this because I want to… But I feel as though the brides who have chosen 2014 as their wedding year knew something special about this year.

There are going to be some similar styles and themes from previous years. There always is.  But something a little bit new a little bit more daring will be appearing in this year’s events.  Colour blocking.

I was featured in WedLuxe Magazine in their winter/spring 2014 issue with one of my colour blocked bouquets.  With golds, yellows, oranges and pinks blocked by flower type became a bit more bold, a statement piece, rather than simple, soft or sophisticated. The bouquet featured golden and pink spray roses, gloriosa, pincushion protea all collared by variegated New Zealand pittosporum.  These types of bouquets are going to be wedding staples.  Say goodbye to the all white rose bouquet, here comes some bright and exuberant wedding bouquets.

The colour blocking will also show up in dresses both worn by bridesmaids as well as guests attending weddings.  A throwback to 80’s geometric prints or late 60’s art deco styling, the bold patterns will take precedent over softened palettes.

Take a look at my colour blocked bouquet along with some other colour inspiration for 2014 weddings.
